Terms of service

These terms cover buying from 3D Film Parts, using this website, and using the free tools we publish. We have tried to write them so they can actually be read. If something here is unclear, email us and ask.

3D Film Parts is a small business in Melbourne, Australia. We design and 3D print accessories for camera crews, and we make almost everything we sell in our own workshop. In these terms, "we", "us" and "our" mean 3D Film Parts. "You" means the person placing the order or using the site.

By placing an order or using this website, you agree to what follows.

Placing an order

Your order is an offer to buy. The contract is formed when we send you an order confirmation email, not when you click pay.

We may refuse or cancel an order. In practice this happens when a price or a product description is wrong, when payment does not clear, when we suspect fraud, or when we cannot make the item to the standard we want. If we cancel an order you have paid for, you get a full refund and an email explaining why.

Please give us accurate details, particularly your delivery address and a phone number you can be reached on. Your carrier uses that number to reach you about customs charges, and it is the single most common reason an overseas order does not arrive.

You need to be at least 18, or have permission from a parent or guardian.

Prices and payment

Prices are shown in the currency you have selected and include Australian GST where it applies. The amount charged is the amount shown at checkout.

Prices and product details can change without notice. If we have made a genuine pricing error we will contact you before charging you, and you can confirm the correct price or cancel.

What you pay at checkout covers the goods and the postage. Depending on where you are, it may also cover your import duties. The next section explains which.

Shipping, customs and duties

Everything ships from Melbourne with Australia Post. Delivery timeframes are estimates. Once a parcel has been handed over we do not control it, and we are not responsible for delays caused by carriers, customs, weather or anything else outside the workshop.

Import charges work differently depending on the destination, and this is the part worth reading:

  • United States and Canada. Your import duties and clearance fees are prepaid by us before the parcel leaves Australia and are included in the shipping rate you pay at checkout. There is nothing further to pay on delivery.
  • European Union. Since 1 July 2026 every commercial parcel is assessed regardless of value. Expect import VAT at your national rate, a flat customs duty per product line, and a handling fee from your own carrier. Your carrier collects these from you before delivery.
  • United Kingdom and everywhere else. Import duties, taxes and handling fees are charged by your own country and are the responsibility of the recipient.

So: import duties, taxes and fees are yours, except where we expressly state that we have prepaid them. Government charges are set by your country, not by us, and we cannot waive them or predict the exact amount.

If a customs charge goes unpaid, the parcel is held and then either returned to us or disposed of by the destination customs authority. Where a parcel comes back to us we refund the value of the goods, less the original postage. Customs duties already paid are not always refundable, and in the EU flat rate system they are not.

We declare every parcel accurately, at the price you paid, with Australian country of origin. We cannot mark an order as a gift or declare a lower value, and we will not be asked to.

Full detail is on our shipping policy.

If something is wrong

Tell us. We would much rather hear about it.

Faulty, damaged or incorrectly sent items are replaced or refunded, and we cover the return postage. Change of mind returns, custom work, and the few things we cannot take back are all set out on our returns policy page, which forms part of these terms.

Our goods come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law. You are entitled to a replacement or refund for a major failure and compensation for any other reasonably foreseeable loss or damage. You are also entitled to have the goods repaired or replaced if the goods fail to be of acceptable quality and the failure does not amount to a major failure.

Nothing in these terms excludes, restricts or modifies those rights. Where anything here conflicts with the Australian Consumer Law, the law wins.

Custom and made to order work

Laser marking, UV printing and custom design work are made for you specifically, so they cannot be resold and are not returnable for change of mind. Faults are a different matter and are covered like anything else.

When you send us artwork, text or a design to put on a product, you are confirming that you own it or have permission to use it, and that it does not infringe anyone else's rights. If a claim is made against us over artwork you supplied, you agree to cover us for it.

We can refuse artwork. We will not reproduce another company's logo or trademark on a product without evidence that you are entitled to use it, and we will not print anything unlawful or hateful.

Please check your spelling and your artwork before you submit. We cut what you send us. If you spot a mistake straight away, email us: if we have not started, we will fix it.

Our designs and our files

Every part we sell was designed here. The design files, 3D models, product images, photography and written content on this site are our intellectual property, and they are the most valuable thing this business owns.

Buying a part does not license the design. Please do not copy, scan, 3D scan, reverse engineer, or reproduce our parts for resale, and please do not reuse our images or copy for your own listings.

We do not sell our STL files, at any price. That is not a negotiating position, it is the whole business. Where we do want to give a design away we publish it free on our MakerWorld profile, and those files are yours to print under that platform's terms.

Where we sell a digital file, you get a licence to print it for your own use, personal or professional. You may not resell it, share it, or sell prints of it in commercial quantities.

Other manufacturers and their brands

We are an independent Australian brand. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by ARRI, RED, Sony, Canon, Blackmagic, DJI, Profoto, Inovativ, Magliner, Tilta or any other manufacturer named on this site.

Camera and equipment names are used to tell you what our parts fit, and nothing more. Our products do not carry manufacturer logos or branding unless a listing says otherwise. Our full position is on the disclaimer page.

Using our parts safely

Our products are made for professional film and photography work, and a lot of them hold expensive equipment.

You are responsible for installing and using them correctly, for checking that a part suits your rig and your load, and for not modifying them in a way that weakens them. We are not liable for damage or injury caused by misuse, incorrect installation, unauthorised modification, or use beyond what a part is designed for.

If you are unsure whether something is right for your setup, ask us before you buy. We would much rather answer an email than hear that something came off a cart.

Our free apps

SmartLog, SmartPrep and SmartWrap are free, open source tools we publish for camera crews. They are not part of the goods you buy from us and they are provided as they are, with no warranty.

They run in your browser and your data stays on your device. Each has its own privacy page, and those describe what happens to your information far better than a paragraph here could. Please do not rely on them as the only copy of anything important on a job.

What we are responsible for

We are responsible for supplying goods that match their description, are of acceptable quality, and are fit for the purpose we describe. That is a real obligation and we take it seriously.

What we stand behind is the part. We test our designs, we print them to a spec we are happy to put our name on, and if one fails we will make it right. Our responsibility runs to the part we sold you: repairing it, replacing it, or refunding what you paid. It does not extend to the other equipment that part was holding, mounted to, or connected to.

Our parts carry cameras, lenses, monitors and batteries worth many times what the part costs. You know your rig, your load and the conditions you are working in better than we can from a workshop in Melbourne. Checking that a part suits the job, is rated for the weight, and is correctly fitted is yours. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for damage to that other equipment, for a shot you did not get, or for a day you lost.

To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, including lost profit, lost revenue, lost data, or costs arising from a production delay. Where we are liable and the law permits us to limit it, our liability is limited to replacing the goods or refunding what you paid for them.

None of this limits your rights under the Australian Consumer Law.

Changes to these terms

We update these terms from time to time. The version published here when you place your order is the version that applies to that order, so a later change cannot be applied backwards to something you have already bought.

Where these terms apply

These terms are governed by the laws of Victoria, Australia, and disputes go to the courts of Victoria. If you are buying as a consumer somewhere else, this does not take away any protection your own local law gives you.

If any part of these terms turns out to be unenforceable, the rest of it still stands.
